Congratulations to Sylvania for winning the coveted Interior Luminaire of the Year Award at LUX LIVE last night.

It was a pleasure to work with their team in London and also the guys at F Mark Design.

My thanks also go to the team at Protool Plastics Group (Fareham) & Protool Manuacturing (Havant) who have dedicated many hours to the success of the project.

At LUX LIVE 2017 The Protool Plastics Group took order coverage for tooling and production moulding of an exciting new Feilo Sylvania product called PIXER with the following statement…”We must be able to launch at Light and Building 2018″.

PIXER is a high performance state of the art architectural luminaire that focuses on aesthetics and creates a real ambience in an office environment with an adjustable light engine height.

Group Managing Director Michael Hadfield commented “As the project had an enhanced architectural design the customer brief was “A” surface perfection with no injection or ejection marks. With one moulding being a 300mm square optically clear lens this was a challenge. Our feed concept was proven via Moldflow analysis and several design for manufacture (DFM) tweaks.”

All tooling was manufactured in group with the complex lens and diffuser tooling made at Protool Manufacturing (Havant) and the housing tooling made in China and the UK.

Front face lens flatness was maintained by intricate inserting of the tool to allow flat lap polishing.

Protool Manufacturing have a long history of supplying lighting tooling with a particular focus on the high end automotive sector.

PIXER was launched on time at Light and Building Frankfurt in March 2018 with ceiling and wall mounted options exhibited.

PIXER RECESSED is a high performance low glare office luminaire with individually adjustable light pods to enhance architectural design. Diffuser is made of optical grade polycarbonate with an optical film for high efficacy and excellent glare control. Suitable for offices where aesthetics is important.
