Environmental Policy

Protool Plastic Components Limited prides itself on the responsible manner in which in conducts its business in relation to preventing any adverse environmental effects.

We understand the necessity to implement an environmental policy and the consequences faced by ignoring these fundamental requirements. The measures we have taken include the following:

  • All employees will be encouraged to keep waste to an absolute minimum – this includes waste of materials, packaging, power and cost.
  • Wherever possible packaging for goods is to be re-used rather than discarded.
  • Wherever possible sprues and rejected mouldings are to be reground and the material re-used on jobs where this does not affect conformity to customer requirements.
  • Waste oil / chemicals are to be disposed of in a responsible manner. An outside contractor is used to remove and recycle waste oil. Under no circumstances are any chemicals /solvents to be disposed of into the drainage / sewerage systems.
  • The cooling tower for the moulding machine cooling water is currently under the scrutiny of an outside sub-contractor who specialises in these systems. It is their responsibility to monitor this water system and to make adjustments to the chemicals levels as required. The subcontractor is also responsible for training nominated members of staff at Protool to monitor the system. Only subcontractor personnel or correctly trained Protool staff members may monitor and adjust the water system.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        
  • Hazardous chemicals/solvents in use at Protool PC are held in a secure store and only issued, when required, to experienced members of staff.
  • Mixing instructions for solvents etc. are clearly detailed on the component specification sheet or secondary operations specification sheet. Any mixing will be undertaken or supervised by a senior member of staff.
